Día de los Muertos Dance Party
Friday, October 29, 2010, 11:00pm – 2:00am / The UG
Are you dying to dance to the rhythms of Reggaeton, Hip-Hop, and Dance? Join Proyecto Latino for our kick-off event at the UG! No need for costumes! We are providing masks, beads, and face painting. Also, the UG will be serving imported Mexican Beers for those who are 21 and over. As usual, bring your State-issued ID and COW card. There will be a $1.00 cover charge for COW students; $2.00 for non-COW students.
The Art of Making Tamales
Saturday, October 30, 12:00pm – 5:00pm / Babcock Dining Hall
Time to roll up your sleeves and learn to make an iconic Latino food: tamales! We are inviting the campus community to participate. We are making chicken, vegetarian, and dessert tamales. We will also mold the sugar skulls that will be used for the decorating activity Monday and Tuesday in Lowry Pit. Bring clean hands and a hearty appetite!!
Día de los Muertos Altar

Proyecto Latino invites the COW community to take part in the centerpiece of Día de los Muertos: the altar ceremony. We encourage everyone to bring pictures and mementos to honor their deceased family members and friends. Tamales prepared the day before will be provided for sampling between 6pm – 7pm. The exhibit will stay up from Sunday October 31st till Tuesday, November 2nd.
Film: Day of the Dead: A Celebration of Family and Life

Proyecto Latino will be presenting a documentary about modern Día de los Muertos celebrations in the United States. Tired of popcorn? No worries, sample delicious tamales made the previous day! The film is not rated.
Día de los Muertos Altar
Monday, November 1, 2010 / All Day / Lowry Stairwell
Proyecto Latino invites the COW community to take part in the centerpiece of Día de los Muertos: the altar ceremony. We encourage the community to bring pictures and mementos to honor your deceased family members and friends. We will pass out samples of the pan de muerto (dead bread) and Mexican hot chocolate during the peak lunch (11am – 1pm) and dinner (5pm – 7pm) hours.
Sugar Skull Decoration Activity
Monday, November 1, 2010 / 4:00pm – 9:00pm / Lowry Pit
We invite the Wooster community to join us in decorating Day of the Dead sugar skulls! Each participant will have an opportunity to decorate and keep an iconic Día de los Muertos souvenir. Great family activity! We will pass out samples of tamales made during our Saturday event.

Dr. Pamela Frese, Professor of Anthropology and Dr. Heath Anderson, Visiting Professor of Archaeology will present lectures on Anthropological and Archaeological perspectives of Dia de los Muertos.
